Philosophers and scientists often use sand and sand grains to explain complex ideas. So did Einstein who said that the left side of the equation E=mc2 was granite and the right side, connecting space-time to matter, was sand. The very first experimental test of it by another scientist was conducted in Sao Tomé and Principe during a solar eclipse. Starlight bending around the sun’s eclipse verified the well-known theory of relativity linking time and space in the 4D space-time continuum.
