Corn-on-the-cob roasted in sand is claimed to be the best traditional street foods in Pakistan. Mobile roasting units with a wood-fired stove under a big metal pan filled with sand are commonly seen in most parts of the country, in markets, close to schools and offices. Sand and salt is heated in a large wok for raw cobs to cook in; the vendor keeps stirring and covering the cobs with sand. It’s popular to serve it with lemon juice and a mix of salt and red chilli powder sprinkled over.
