The Sigatoka Sand Dunes is Fiji’s first National Park and is a World Heritage Site. The dunes are formed from sand brought down with a river nearby. The surf and winds prevailing for millions of years have made the dunes into what they are today. Fine grayish sand grain makes the dunes at the shoreline a tourist attraction in themselves. Archeological treasures as pottery shards, stone tools, and human remains dating up to 2600 years back regularly resurface as winds reshape the sand dunes.
