Magnetic beach sand is only found at a few locations in the world. The beaches on the Georgian side of the Black Sea coast, Ureki, Shekvetili and Grigoleti, are rare exceptions. Magnetic sand containing titanium and magnetite grains is brought here by rivers passing over bedrock bringing small pieces with it down. Sand quarry workers in the area noticed positive health outcomes when mining the dark magnetic sand. The reports ignited a health boom and health resorts today line the coast.
