Local Sand Trivia

Översättning på gång, så länge den engelska: A bow-shaped sand dune, with two arms pointing forward, has slowly wandered the Tanzanian savanna for several million years. Rare shifting sand dunes, barkans, form when iron-rich sand magnetizes and attract other magnetic grains. With wind and a long time span a small pile of sand becomes a dune. Magnetic force keeps the dune intact, sand thrown in the air from the dunes will clump and fall back to it. The Maasai people regard the dunes sacred, believed to originate from near “Mountain of God”.
