Surreal images of orange snow covering Eastern Europe went viral. While looking strange there’s a normal explanation to it. Of course, it has to do with sand. Sandstorms in the Sahara lift sand and dust high up in the atmosphere. Strong winds from North Africa carry the particles to wherever the winds blow. This time there were extra many Saharan particles in the atmosphere above Moldova when it started to snow and the orange sand and dust followed the snow down giving all an orange tint.
