If you’re at a craft market in the Gambia you’ll likely find traditional sand paintings. Sand in different shades from people, animals, and landscapes. Sand paintings are made with glue painted onto wooden boards with sand different colours poured on top to attach one tint/shade at a time. The excess sand is removed before new glue and another coloured sand is added. Some use only natural coloured sand from different locations while others dye sand to different tints.
