Sand is repeatedly used to illustrate large numbers in religious, fictional and scientific texts and discussions. “Countless as grains of sand”, “as numerous as the grains of sand” or “descendants like sand… children like its numberless grains”. In eSwatini, King Mswati III has over 30 children and is still going. The descendants are many. How many children the former king had is uncertain but with about 85 wives the total might just be as numberless grains.
